Is there an cycling app for the iPhone where you can pre-program a route on a map and then have said app give you directions as you go. This is of course to be used in unfamiliar areas and would act like a sat nav but the start and end point would be the same. Thanks.

Cyclemeter is pretty good https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/cyclemeter-gps-cycling-running/id330595774?...
Here's the method I used:
Before I got a dedicated GSP (Edge200), I use to:
1. plot routes using Bike Route Toaster, http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/
2. Download the route as .gps file, and upload to my Dropbox account
3. Open Dropbox on iPhone and double click the map I want - this prompts phone to ask which app you want to open the file - select Cyclemeter

After 12 months of this, I bought a Garmin Edge 200 - so much simpler!
