Hi All,

I'm over in scotland for x-mas and new years from germany to visit family and friends. My brother and i would be looking to go a few one-day hikes/walks up the southern highlands or maybe even further up.
Any you could recommend ?
I've not done any winter mountaineering in scotland but go scrambling and mountain walking in the alps in germany and austria nearly every week if pos. The mountains ive done in the alps have been up to 2700m high (ca. 9-11h trips)  so i dare say i'm not a beginner and not a pro but like a good challenge

Maybe you could help me out in finding a couple of routes that should be realistic for me to atempt.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

All the best

Matt

Hi Matt,

Are you happy using ice axe and crampons?

Assuming you can use an ice axe and crampons, then this website should sort you out:

http://scottishwinterroutes.com/

Also there's less infrastructure in Scotland, so no signposts, huts, lifts etc. So your nav will need to be good.
