Was warned when I bought the Protrek that the batteries were expensive to replace ( 5 in total) however I took mine to Timpsons and they replaced them for £40.00 which included a lifetime guarantee card that means I will never have to pay again..bargain

You was robbed. Replaced mine in John Lewis three years ago and watch cleaned - £15

Trick is to not lose the card, which I did some years ago, so had to pay again. Don't think I paid anything like £40, but it was a long time ago.
I have had my Protrek for 15 years, hundreds of mountains, tough as fcuk.
Love it!

I spent £3 on batteries on the internet and spent about 5 minutes changing them.

I was paid 40 pounds to have mine changed and they gave me a lifetime guarantee card which means I will never die or my money back. Or something.

I must be very lucky, mine appears to be solar powered so no batteries to replace (he says, tempting fate)

Could get batteries cheaper elsewhere but was warned of potential hazards of replacing them yourself ie; tampering with sensors plus not sure if JL pressure test when finished.
