Just figured out the touring/hike mode on my Salomon Quest 8s, but haven't used them for the intended purpose yet.

Has anyone used theirs for touring yet? How did they perform in hike mode?

I understand that they're probably not going to be as good as Scarpa or BD equivalents, but wonder if they will suit my backcountry needs in the short term.

i use the scarpa quest 12 boots for touring as i have the touring sole pads on them which make walking much easier. they are quite heavy and the walk mode doesnt have the full movement of touring specific boots but there a decent compromise for me as i use them for everything. fine for day tours but i would like a lighter set for anything bigger.

I have the Quest Pebax Pro's from Salamon.
They're certainly comfortable, and I haven't had any blisters to date!
The only downside is that the tongues seem to slip sideways after some use.
The shin then becomes looser and the tongue on the boot inner is wearing through to the foam!

Aside from that they're great.
Light to!

my missus has toured th stubai, haute route, and silvretta on quests riding twin tip salomons at 120? underfoot, you will be fine, my missus says theey are the comfyiest boots shes ever had,

but as you know but fitting has nothing to do with the cost of the boot
