I'm after some ideas of where to head for the last week in May and first week in June with the wife. We had planned to hit the first (Northern) half of the GR20 but it looks like it'll still have a high chance of snow. So looking for other ideas. The requirements are:

Some sun
Trekking good.
Maybe climbing up to Sev.
Adventure.

Ideas welcome...

I think May herself can tell you where you should go.

I think the May is a little early season for the Matterhorn unfortunately

Can't guarantee the weather, but usually Scotland has better weather in May.
Can't guarantee that there won't be midges if there is good weather in late May/early June.
Nevertheless I would say look at going to Skye. There you have the glorious Cuillins and Sron Na Ciche(spelling?)with several lower grade climbs and in the north-east is Flodigarry where I seem to remember that "Rock Island Line" is a severe.

I know that you were thinking of more continental venues, but I would think of Scotland. If you were of a mind you could also head to Reiff where there are loads of shorter routes of a variety of grades. On the way up you could stop off at Dunkeld and climb some of the great routes there(Craig a Barns).
On top of all that you can either cook for yourself using food that you know or eat out in great places.

I agree Scotland certainly has it's merits as an option, unfortunately it is an up hill battle ( no pun intended) to sell Scotland...

So is Scotland the best we can do?

How about sticking with Corsica and having plan A and plan B. If there's lower level stuff you can do as an alternative than you're sorted. It's a great place to go.

Hope this helps.

Morocco or wadi rum? Or how about somewhere in Spain/Pyrenees. Chamonix would be nice. Or the Dolomites, plenty to do around Trento. Via Ferrata, sport climbing at arco down the road, trip to Verona see Juliet's balcony and the amphitheater. Over night in Venice. Take your pick.
