Verdon Gorge

Me and my friend are planning a trip to the great verdon gorge.

Looking for recommendations of where to stay that's close?

Any comments would be useful and any tips etc.

How close is close? Lots of campsites, some large and expensive. I stayed in a small site in Castellane, on the Route Napoleon, modest prices, near to supplies, but needing a car to get to the gorge.

In reply to Somerville: If you're climbing in the gorge, camp (or get a room) in La Palud (or close by). The abseils are a short drive.

La Palud has 2 campsites. La Palud is also good for a post climb beer.
