Just had my Katana Laces back from Llanberis Re-soles.
Very pleased with the result,so much that the new ones will be back in the box.
The Stealth C4 rubber seems to be much better and stickier than the Vibram.
No change at all in the fit, great job.

I thought Torquil didn't have any c4? Are you sure it's not onyxx?
In reply to alooker:

Itll be onyxx. I asked if he had C4 last week said he hasnt had it for a while.

In reply to alooker:
I am assuming it is C4 as that's what was available on the request sheet.
Not a problem if its not, whatever it is its good and a big improvement on the Vibram XS,I find that it is way too hard a compound.
Downside will be that they won't last as long.

his resoles have always lasted me ages.

Who am I kidding I'm not going to climb much harder with c4 anyway!

Llanberis are awesome. Beautiful edges, kept the downturn and even got the love bump back into my Evolv Shamans! (Pics in link) Can't recommend it enough.

Yes they are,Used mine for the first time last night and they were ace.
Having some confidence in your shoes works wonders.
I will definitely use Torquil again.
In reply to chrissyboy:

Impressed with the job he's done on my whites. Tidy job.

In reply to chrissyboy:

I'm impressed with the quality of Llanberis resoles work but they are just a bit too expensive to make re-soling worthwhile for me. My last re-soles were with Cheshire Shoe Repairs and they were about £10 cheaper. The cost includes return postage and the quality of the work is excellent and a big improvement on work they did for me several years ago.

Good comment,I have also heard of good reports from Cheshire Shoe Repairs.
The best thing for me is not having to break in a new set,my shoes are like me - worn in!
In reply to GridNorth:

Depends what you're looking for. I've just paid more than the value of replacing my scarpa vantages to get them resoled at Llanberis, but what's come back is better than the shoe I started with - quality sticky rubber and an edge, and, as Chrissyboy says, without having to break in the shoe again. I'm delighted as I now have an all day comfort trad shoe with a bit of structure.

In reply to Just Tintin:

I don't disagree with that. I did the same with a pair of Evolve Bandits, they came back better than the originals but the point I was making was that I paid about £10 less by using Chesire Shoes.

Cheshire shoes are more variable than Llanberis resoles. I've used both extensively and whilst a couple of times Cheshire has done a great job as many times they have done a very poor job. Normally its somewhere in between. LLanberis without fail the shoes come back with top notch work having been carried out. I have had some issues with both places with shoe rubber not sticking possibly slightly more at LLanberis.

Llanberis are actually 1 pound cheaper than Cheshire as long as you don't want the rands changing.
