Hi all,

Looking for suggestions for new places to visit by public transport for long weekend type trips, preferably good choice in grades around HS/VS. I'm based in Fort William, so I'm looking at getting the sleeper train down to Preston/Crewe/London and on from there.

I'm pretty good at working out how to get round the country but don't know where to aim for, ideally it would be walking (up to a couple of hours) from a train station to crags.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Train to Manchester then across to Sheffield then bus out to Hathersage. Camp near here then climb at stanage.

Train to crewe, bust to stoke then to leek and camp at upper Hulme and climb at hencloud or the roaches.

Must admit that was my main thought, grew up climbing on grit but wondered what I was missing! hadn't thought of hencloud though, good shout!
