/ Maps for alps
wanting to go the the alps this summer n do some big hills, scrambles n generally have fun. but cant seem to find any maps like the OS maps in the uk. anyone able to help?? what am I looking for??
For France, 1:25 000 maps from IGN (the French OS) - where have you looked as they are easily availble in Franch & in some places in the UK (Needle Sports, Stamfords, etc). Similar maps for Switzerland & Italy from the same shops
Amazon has a good range of the IGN maps from what I've seen (If you can't find somewhere to buy them from who actually pays tax).
Thanks guys :)
The DAV ones for Austria and Germany are good. Kompass for Italy are not so good.
Kompass are generally not really good. I much prefer the DAV ones or the local equivalent of OS, e.g. Landesvermessungsamt Bayern in Germany.
stanfords have a hugh selection of maps available via mail order
The Map Shop in Upton on Severn have a good stock too.
Laurie or Fernley-Whittingstall? ;-)
I concur, Stanfords is the one-stop-shop for all your cartographic needs.
