Who likes home-made shaky films? Everyone, that's who. Made this last week in between the showers on days off, what with bikepacking being all trendy and that!

Fantastic! You seem to have been traveling impressively light, I know that when its two you don't need so much more stuff than one person does but how the hell do you get that tent and beers into such wee packs?

Tardis bags! Ther'es more space than you think in them - the seat bag alone is around 12 litres, and around the same again on the bars.

Still impressed! I've not managed to get my load down below http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zdcgXXTLMnE/UqRRgYM1aVI/AAAAAAAAG6c/-N84ITiRi4g/s... although that was early winter so I needed to have a decent duvet jacket with me.

My rather poorer attempt at making a bikepacking video from last autumn vimeo.com/74712121

great film, that. Really want to head out into the hills again myself

FWIW, I managed to get all this stuff for a 3 day solo trip https://tinyurl.com/k2tqo5o
into a set up that looked like this https://tinyurl.com/lhdu7aw
thank god for lightweight gear!

Is that an Alpkit Numo attached to the crossbar Dom? If so, how's it going? I've found mine don't work too well - http://lightfromthenorth.blogspot.fi/2014/01/physics-you-can-sleep-on-desig... Hope Alpkit does something similar but harder wearing in the future.

Aye, thanks for that. It's an inspirational little film, which must have taken a lot of effort to put together.

Cheers

Great little video - the OTB moment at 3 minutes was pretty predictable - did he volunteer or did you set him up for it?

Go and post it on Singletrack magazine's forum, they'll love it.

Brilliant! Loved it...

In reply to TobyA:

It is a Numo... and it worked fine for the 3 nights i've used it so far. It's just heading out to California with my girlfriend for a week of camping so it'll be interesting to see how well it survives. I did wonder about what would happen to the moisture trapped from inflation, I guess I now know. Oh, the downsides of superlight gear!

They are very comfy and rather light, so for summer I still rate mine, just not so good when it starts getting frosty.

I think i recognise alot of your film though.

Good stuff.

Brilliant, loved the movie, thanks.

Where did you get the under seat bag ? I have seen a few home bodged ones and the sold out Alpkit offering.

Is it secure and stable enough to adapt a compression sack ? or is it worth spending on a proper one, and where from ? Thanks

In reply to Pyreneenemec:

Cheers! It was sort of planned, but I was only meant to get stuck, rather than upside down, but in the end it worked out okay I think!

Yep. Get one of the alpkit dry bags with the lashing points on the side for best results but any old dry bag can work with enough straps/bungees.

It's a Revelate Designs Terrapin Sarah, they're from Alaska but imported by backcountry biking up in Aviemore, they have an online store. They're quite pricy, but also really good quality. You can get a deicated drybag for it too, that's tapered at the saddle end to fit better. Having tried bodging it before, it's super easy to use and you don't have to worry about it all day!
