In reply to Pids:

Good luck if you are. Looks bloody hard.
In reply to PeterM:

I am doing it. Forecast improving. Looking forward to great climbs and that 25 mile descent.

In reply to Pids:

Yes, but I don't know why!!
In reply to Dangerous Dave:
Cycling up to Cairngorm with 100 miles on your legs...my 1st mountain top finish! (I hope)

In reply to Humphrey Jungle:

Never mind first mountain top finish it will be my first finish, never done a sportive before.
Glad weather forecast has improved, now need to look out sun cream.
In reply to Pids:

Baptism of fire then! Just keep eating and drinking and enjoy the scenery. If we can dodge the showers later conditions almost perfect.

In reply to Pids:

How'd it go?
In reply to PeterM:

Weather gods were kind. I did in 7hrs. Cairngorm wasn't that bad - the Lecht was that bad.

Really great event and scenery - if the TOB ever comes North...
OP Pids 02 Jun 2014
In reply to PeterM:

Had a great time, it was tough, painfully tough at times, but the scenery and the friendliness of others meant I thoroughly enjoyed it.

At a rather low ebb, after riding for 100 miles, shortly after the snow gate at the heron fields on approach to Cairngorm I admit to walking the section just at the sugarbowl car park - I was gubbed - once round the corner though, back on the bike for the final uphill to the finish line.

Give's me a time to aim for next year then.....

In reply to Humphrey Jungle & Pids:

Good efforts! I may just sign up for next years event instead of the etape.

In reply to Pids:

I rode this yesterday too. A tough one for your first sportive but WHAT a route! Will do it again next year just for those views.

In reply to Pids:

Yeah, I did the Etape, and am wishing I had entered this too. Looks tough, but I reckon I'll be there next year.
In reply to Pids:

Yeah, there were a few people pushing there...still you got up and over the Lecht...what a monster...and they'd softened you up with the 2 hills before it.

Annoyingly I got stuck behind a campervan on descent ... my mate clocked 55mph.

In reply to Humphrey Jungle:

I did the Lecht just on its own a couple years ago and it was bad enough!!!

respect to all who did that one.
