Evening all.

Hoping to spend one or two nights near Uig and was wondering where the best accomadation/hostels might be nearby?

Any info much appreciated.

Cheers, Al

Afaik, Uig is the ferry port on Skye? Not heard of a place on Lewis by that name..

Uig is on the west coast of Lewis.Big sandy beaches and a cheap and once beautiful campsite. Now much abused by giant campervans and caravans so it resembles an ugly holiday park.which it is I suppose. Sorry,I'm not aware of any hostels.

Have you checked out the Scottish independent hostels site - http://www.hostel-scotland.co.uk/ ?

Pretty sure there is no hostel in the Uig area, it'll be either camp at Riof beach campsite (the aforementioned, it's not too bad really, but better to wild camp somewhere else imho). Nearest hostel accommodation that I know of is at the Blackhouse Village

Other than that it's Stornoway at the HebHostel, or Scaladale Centre on the way to Tarbert if they don't have groups in. Might be worth having a nose through the community shop website, they have some self catering links on it and a contact page. It's pretty much the hub of the community over there, so if anyone knows then they will!
