I'm having an evening climb at The Ravenstones and was thinking it would be easier to cycle from the Dovestones car park up past Greenfield reservoir. Has anyone done this and is so where did they leave their bike and so you think it's safe!?

Cheers, B

We cycled in from the carpark between Dovestones and Yeoman Hay reservoirs the other week if that's the one you mean.

It takes less than 15 mins (just under 2 miles) and is a reasonable gravel track, a tourer bike would be ok, a roadbike a bit dodgy.

We ditched the bikes on the side at the end of the track, but you could carry them up the hill slightly and put them behind the wall. Could always take a lock to secure the wheels, it's too far for anyone to want to carry the bike out.

Thank you! I did see the wall on google maps. I'm going to scope it out properly tomorrow but thanks for the tips

There's some metal railings at the end of the track you could chain them. It's not going to take much to dissuade theives that far from the road.
