Dolomites conditions

Hi there,

I'm heading out the Dolomites later this week; looking at the weather there seems to have been a fair amount of rain recently. What are conditions like? Has it been falling as snow and if so how far down?

We're planning on a holiday with a chilled out mix of climbing, VF and walking; is there still snow about and if so is it worth taking axe and crampons?

In reply to Clarkey77: We were out last week, and took axes but never used them other than on Marmolada. We had some big storms with some hail and snow at 2400m, but it was gone the next day and nothing a pair of poles wouldn't help you cope with. We took the axe on the basis that it would cover our asses as we couldn't find an up to date conditions report even if we did look like plonkers...
