The valve on my ME Helium sleeping mat has stopped locking. When I turn the lock the inner tube it's attached to turns with it and it will not lock shut, therefore not keeping the air in the mat. Does anyone know a way of repairing this problem? Thermarest sell replacement valves but it doesn't look like they'd work on my ME mat.
I once cut the broken valve off and glued in a valve from a bike inner tube. I removed the valve core so I could inflate it with my mouth instead of a pump, and sealed it with the dust cap. Surprisingly, it worked quite well!

In reply to sheelba: Doesnt the Helium mat have a valve that pushes in to close and pulls out to open ?
Or.. contact Mountian Equipment and see if they have a replacement valve
