I'm looking for a decent campsite with a good pub nearby in the Forest of Dean and also ib the Cotswolds. It's our first time around here so any recommendations will be appreciated. We have a small campervan and a 7 month old baby.

I quite liked this place http://thistledown.org.uk/

It was a touch pricey for my liking tho (but I am very grumpy about spending any money).

I stayed at Symonds Yat East. We shared it with a party of drunken idiots playing loud noise (which they called 'music') and celebrating someone's significant birthday or something. Needless to say, they didn't stop their piss-up at any reasonable hour, let alone the official curfew: 2200. It was hell.

I have also stayed at Bracelands and had a good experience. It did feature many families with many children but I'd choose knee-highs over hooligans on any day - the latter are only noisy until they exhaust themselves and go to sleep.

I don't really know if it is the site or the clientèle who happen to be there at the time but I'd recommend Bracelands.

This is a good one:

Was there a fortnight ago. Nice and basic, cheap, not busy, rural, attached fruit farm and shop, ruined abbey, fire pits. Got the lot. Pub at Toddington.

Very nice - stayed here in June with a 6-month old and some friends and their kids. Campervans welcome.

The Beeches in Tidenham Chase is good - though more Wye Valley than Forest.

Have stayed here several times but not for about 5 years

Pleasant basic campsite and we've had very good food in The Ostrich Inn

In the Cotswolds, there is a big site on the edge of Moreton in Marsh, only a very short stroll into the many pubs and restaurants. If you go there, the nearby Falconry Centre is well worth a visit for the children.
