Hi,

Looking ahead to the Christmas holidays with some friends and Turkey has been sticking in my mind as an interesting destination.

I assumed that it would be bone dry and mild, with the rock in perfect condition at this time of year but I started looking at some climate charts for Antalya which seem to indicate otherwise. One shows average December rainfall to be over 200mm, which is more than the average for SW Britain let alone El Chorro or Tenerife...!

Does anyone have experience of Antalya and the surroundings at this time of year? Is it short sharp downpours or prolonged rain? The guides I have read say that winter is a perfect time to go so I'm a bit confused really.

If it is a bit damp, does anyone have any good alternatives for a two week climb and explore trip somewhere in the Med?

Cheers,
H

In reply to badgerjockey: I can offer absolutely no advice on Turkey, and you don't want any on basting so, it's a long winded bump

In reply to badgerjockey:

I've spent New Year at Josito and had good weather with 15 mins rain in 6 days

I've also been rained off for a whole day there round Easter

Some cave & overhanging routes stay dry
