Knocked off my road bike on Saturday in Newcastle under Lyme. Taken to hospital on spine boards but fortunately no broken bones.

Big thank you to all drivers and cyclists who stopped to assist, call ambulance, direct traffic.

Big thank you to the doctor who works at the Wolstanton practice who witnessed the collision. He kept my head straight whilst waiting for the ambulance.

Big thank you to Kirsty, ambulance driver, who was very efficient and re-assuring in everything she did.

Big thank you to Maria, a passing cyclist who took my bike to her house for safe keeping. Went to pick it up yesterday and I was amazed to discover her husband had even taken the trouble to clean it!

People are great.

In reply to Prof. Outdoors:

Do you think that if I stage a fake accident Maria's husband will take my bike away and clean it for me?

Hope you and the bike are doing well.
