Following on from Chris the Tall's loss of his Garmin GPS, This link http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/08/display-number-garmin.html appeared on a thread on SingletrackWorld. It's a tip on how to have a personalised message appear on startup on your GPS unit. Only applies to the Edge 510, Edge 800, Edge 810 and presumably the new Edge 1000.

Looks like it might be helpful if an honest person finds the unit.
