I'm after a GPS app for my Android Galaxy SII that lets me tag gps locations (it would be useful for photography to know where I took a shot). I'm also after something that can plot a basic route line of a walk with the usual ascent / descent, distance covered stats.

There seems to be a mind boggling amount of free and paid apps. Does anyone have any experience with any?

Osmand is a good option. It's free and powerful. Maps are free as well, which is always a benefit.

Where is counter lines plugin as well for it. Recently developers added sexy shades for hills
