We're heading to Calpe in a couple of weeks and planning on doing one of the multipitches on the penon. Guidebook says they're trad with some bolts. So what gear would you advise taking?

Did the Diedre UBSA A couple of years ago and took a load of trad gear with us as it stated 5+ (HVS) in the book, its well bolted! I think we used a couple of slings for threads higher up but that's it, sustained and polished but still excellent, be very careful gearing up at the bottom if there are partys above on the UBSA or Via Valencios, shit was coming down all the time!

Also did Diedre UBSA, we took a set of wires and some slings. It was only really the slings that we used.

You can also try some of the other routes. We did Costa Miserables - a 6b+ linkup of two other lines - and it was fully bolted the whole way up. Without a doubt one of the best long sport lines I have ever done, and it seems to get less traffic than UBSA. No polish or rockfall...

Thanks for the info, we were looking at linking a couple of routes like you described.
