Just read Tyler Hamilton's book and being a bit of a scientist am interested in how the riders these days get their Haemacrit levels to max (if they no longer use EPO / blood bags etc). Wiggo et al all use Oxygen tents to sleep in - so the question is: do they have extra oxygen to help recovery or less oxygen to mimic altitude and so get their bodies to produce more red blood cells? Anyone know the regime/answer/

Answer 1: I think its mimic altitude and more red blood cells. They also do a lot of training at altitude camps.

Cynical Answer 2: They've got another drug thats undetectable at present!!

This is my view on the situation, I also think the way it's administered that riders may not even fully be aware of the total implications.

Does anyone have any ideas of what this is?

In reply to John Simpson:
WADA has recently banned xenon and argon (undetectable)
the opioid Tramadol is still legal i think.
must be many other 'legal'/not yet banned performance enhancers out there..

They may have, but I suspect it is more likely that they are using drugs that aren't illegal yet.
