KMC Quick Link on a MTB chain?

about to put a new KMC 8 chain on my hardtail mountainbike, now I've started using it on trails a bit more, not sure whether to use the quick link that came with it to join the chain, or is the constant rattling about on trails likely to unhook it, and would using the chain tool to join it more permanently with a pin be better?
have used the quick-links on my road bike without any problems, but I'd imagine the chain gets much less of a tough time on a road bike.

I have used them for years and never had one fail.
I have a spare one in my repair kit for if a link breaks too.

It will be fine. My record is 3 on one chain before I replaced it.
