I'm off to the Carnedds or Snowdon Massif tomorrow and was thinking the same thing. Decided best to take them just in case.

I was in Dolgellau today and it didnt look like there was much up there at all, in these instances I take a pair of Yak trax (pro) with me which is usually enough for even moderate snow.

I doubt that the snow will have consolidated enough after a day or two to be hard enough to need an ax or crampons. But it would be silly not to take them given the fact that you just never know.

In reply to Dave Perry:

I was thinking that but yr.no forecast 2-3 hours snow this afternoon and then with the temperatures below freezing all day tomorrow it might firm up I'm guessing... with more snow around 4pm Sat when I'll still be mooching about on the hill waiting for night nav practice... I guess it can't do any harm to take them - don't have to wear them.
cheers all
BB
