Day touring venues mid February

Hi All,

The time of year for the UKC masses to help me plan my holiday!
Looking to get away ski touring February half term. Group is quite inexperienced so not looking to do a hut to hut, preferably a good valley/resort base where day tours are easily accessible but there's also the option of lift fed piste and off piste. Have done this twice in Chamonix, and by no means have I exhausted the options there and would be happy to go back but I've never skied in Austria or Switzerland, nor have I toured in Italy so would like to know what people think are good options. Preferably somewhere with either a decent guidebook, or easily findable info. Happy with glacier travel.

I've been to the Queyras (France) several times at that time of year & it offers plenty of options for an inexperienced group, with a mix of valley & easily accessible huts (often just a couple of hours up a XC ski trail). Don't know of any guidebooks in English but there are at least 2 in French, although the IGN 1: 25 000 is probably enough. Couple of photos in my gallery

Best snow cover in Switzerland at the moment is Andermatt/Realp area so a good option is Rotondo hut. Quite easy access, comfortable hut & a good variety of day touring options.
