Hi, I am looking for Honeymoon ideas. My partner isn't quite the outdoors type however she is slowly coming round. I was thinking something with maybe a day or two walking nothing to strenuous since it is the honeymoon but more discovery.

We would be looking at 2-3 weeks in 2016 and my initial thought was Asia maybe a tour of Thailand / Vietnam. If anyone has any ideas on things to do or even travel companies they could recommend it would be greatly appreciated (an all inclusive type of package would be less hassle).

Key points for the trip:
1. Beach / relax days (if my partner had the choice it would be 3 weeks on a beach!)
2. Hot / warm weather
3. Activities (walk, safari, rafting)
4. Local exploration (temples, tea houses etc)
5. Some sort of local cooking class type activity

PS. I have been told we must come back feeling relaxed and have a tan.

We went to Jordan for a week and then had a week in the sun at a quiet Turkish resort in 2013.Depending on the security situation there in 2016 I'd definitley say have a look! I can't reccomend Jordan enough. The people were amazing, as was camping in the desert, visiting Petra and castles built during the crusades. You will get a tan! People often overlook it and I wanted to give it a plug (I wouldnt go now with things as they are but if they calm down its great value and fun!). PS. We did a cookery course in Petra and it was great!

Thanks for the reply. Like you say with the current situation I'd be wary of travelling to that region but depending what happens between now and then it could be an option.

I think you've hit the nail on the head already, with Vietnam. Do an open jaws ticket - arrive in Saigon and leave from Hanoi (or vice versa), and 3 weeks would give you just about enough time to go from one to the other without feeling too frazzled. Brilliant food, gorgeous landscapes, close contact with the coast much of the time and do-able independently or as a package.

Just make sure that you're not flying into and out of the same city - that would be a complete arse, as you'd have to do a mammoth amount of backtracking.

I'd have to admit that I've not been there in a good few years, but if you have half as good a time there as we did, you'll have a blast. We had a month, and whilst we would have liked to stay longer, we weren't at all rushed.

Hi Martin, thanks for the info. Like you say a flying from different cities gives a more open trip, now to find if someone could put a package together for use saves hours of research for us

Its always useful to find if people thought they were rushed or any issues from the start.

Not sure about a full package being needed, but have you tried Trailfinders? Despite being quite mainstream now, I still find them friendly, knowledgeable, well-priced and helpful. They may have some itineraries for you to follow; if not, they're still the best place to buy flights and general insurance.

Thanks for the name, having had a look it seems like we could get the flights insurance and maybe a cheap package to get us started over there with a look to see what / where we would like to go / do once out there.

Will have a more detailed look this evening and most likely contact them. Thanks!

We added Cambodia to our Thailand / 'Nam tour and it was by far the highlight. You can get off the beaten track there and away from the large tourist groups, and the temples are really really fantastic. We stayed in Siam Reap for about a week, and had an awesome time before heading south to the beaches. It's suprisingly cheap to basically rent a tuk tuk driver for the whole time you are there (get the hotel to recommend someone), and you get a guide as a bonus.

Also, the hawkers are way less pushy (although maybe we were just getting used to it).

Yes I'd recommend Vietnam/Cambodia as a trip having been there this year - felt like a honeymoon!

Particular recommendation is Hoi An in Vietnam - really pretty old town, nice resorts for relaxing days, incredible food (and cooking classes). And plenty of options for day trips eg. My Son which is like a mini Vietnamese version of Angkor.

STA travel are well worth a look - they specialise in student gap years so are really good at finding the most cost-efficient ways around.
Also Thailand offers a lot - from beach side rock climbing (Railay beach/Ao Nang/DWS off the islands) - to trekking, plus really freindly people and cheap living.

Thanks a lot for all the replies. Got a few websites now and people of ideas floating around, with potential for both an organised trip or an off the cuff visit.

Looks like we could end up doing quite a few things in that region with Cambodia being a logical add-on being in between the two countries.
