Hi
There's a few of us heading up to the Lake District for 4 days over Easter. Where would you recommend to climb and boulder?
We are all a variety of skill level, so places that everyone can have fun.

Also we'd really like some good traversing bouldering, nothing too high due to dodgy knees in the party

We're planning on camping..... Any good campsites? Not too family/kid orientated

Any advice greatly appreciated

Eskdale granite could suit, the holds feel a bit like grit due to their roundness!

For bouldering in that area check out Fisherground which is very close to the campsites in the valley. For bouldering in a truly outstanding setting try Sampsons stones in Upper Eskdale, the walk-in is well rewarded.
For climbing there's the roadside venues of: Bell Stand, Hare crag, Brantrake (all granite).
And for longer adventures there's Esk buttress.

Duddon valley could also fit the bill. Plenty bouldering (although not well documented), climbing on single and multi-pitch crags around Seathwaite tarn, following the sun during the day. Wallowbarrow crag is well worth a visit too. And for those wanting longer routes it's feasible to walk from the Turner Hall campsite to Dow crag.

Both these valleys have excellent pubs too.

Good recommendation from 'A Mountain Journey' You can't go too far wrong staying in Turner hall farm campsite in the Duddon Valley. Great pub nearby. Wallowbarrow crag for friendly low grade cragging, Eskdale nearby for bouldering, and mountain crags such as Dow and Esk Buttress if the weather allows. This part of the Lake District avoids the worst of the crowds over holiday periods. I'm sure you'll get the usual replies of head to Langdale or Borrowdale. However, I live in Keswick and often head to the Duddon Valley for weekend camping breaks.

Excellent info above.

All the info for bouldering can be printed off from Greg's superb site www.lakesbloc.com in booklet form.
Also maybe check out sunny St. Bees/Fleswick Bay as it close by in case the weather turns, as it can be sunny there when its raining in the hills.

Brantrake sometimes has a bird ban so check BMC or Needlesports.
