First of all not sure if this is the right forum - if not then sorry !

Looking at organising a trip to spain to walk up Mulhacén and probably wild camp near by for a night. Does anybody who has done this have any tips ? Good spaces to wild camp etc ?

Thanks !

Sam

I did it from the SE if I recall, and camped at La Siete Lagunas (spelling?). It was 30c+ in the valley, but -2c at camp. I had skimped on the gear and froze my nadgers off! Take at least a 3 season bag or a down jacket in a bivvy.

Loved it. Saw the best stars ever, zero light pollution.

We did a 5 day traverse of the main tops a few years ago, Its a superb outing. The going is OK but way finding can be a bit random on the rocky bits. We wild bivvied, there are loads of little shelters by water sources that are fine. Sorry I cant offer specific help, but Its great and you wont be dissappointed.

I did it over 2 days last August from the south, staying the night at the Refugio Poquiera which was lovely - very friendly and not expensive. I guess you could wild camp anywhere but my recollection is that it's quite a barren mountain so discretion might be quite difficult.
