I know its common question but I need a jacket for the cold weather (no discussion of that, I have been allocated cash for it as a pressie and if I dont buy it now the mortgage or new baby will absorb it!).I would like to make the most of cold days coming up or next winter., Im not spending more than £150 and had settled on the Filo by Alpkit but its sold out....

Anyone seen a good offer for a decent down jacket around that price?

Have a look on sportpursuit-dot-com (if you have any mates who use it, get them to send you a link; they used to give five or ten quid to any member who introduced a new purchaser). Just be sure to check prices elsewhere, as sometimes they're matched by outfits like Joe Brown's or the Epicentre.

Getting to an outdoor shop with a new little un is tough so I want to narrow down the options...!

I spotted some MHW down jackets in Backs today.

Kelvinator, £119, was £250
