Does anybody know if that free/cheap wild style camping area is still there up beneath Olta hill/crag near Calpe? Haven't been there for about a hundred years and wondering if it still exists as a legal campsite and if anybody knows what the deal with it is currently. The space looks still intact on google street view. But can't tell from that if overnight camping is allowed. Many thanks.

Yes the campsite is still there and managed by the local council (i think). It's a pretty well ordered place with showers, loos, cooking facilities, etc.

It's not free, but seems good value (can't remember the exact price). Not sure about booking a place, sorry.

It didn't look open nor particularly well looked after when we were there last Oct.

It was there (and maintained) in February this year! Facilities are pretty basic but it's a beautiful spot. However, those with campervans should note that it's supposed to be for tents only - there are signs saying no campervans overnight.

Thanks for the replies. Wow! I wonder if it is a time of the year thing? Do any of you know how you pay? Somebody come around, or do you have to go find the local council buildings? It is a nice place, given what lies all below it. And the other camping alternatives.
