NTS staff have now started installing the temporary footbridge at Derry Lodge, a valued link in the Lairig Ghru and for access to a number of Cairngorm Munros. My pal reckons a couple of days should see the work finished, but he and his mates were able to cross there today.

In reply to OMR:

The installation of both the interim bridge at Derry, and the eventual full-scale replacement bridge, are being substantially supported by the Scottish Rights of Way & Access Society, as a practical memorial to Donald Bennet, lifelong mountaineer and godfather to many of the SMC's hill-walking guidebooks, including the Munros & Corbetts guides. Details at http://www.scotways.com/news/442-donald-bennet-memorial-appeal . All contributions will be put to very good use in securing this key crossing for the future !

Hi Bob, I'd mentioned that earlier in my blog - along with links for donations. https://cairngormwanderer.wordpress.com/2015/04/12/new-bridge-imminent-at-d...
Wish ScotWays every success with this.

Good news about the bridge Neil, but not sure that ebay allows that kind of listing.

Oh shit. I suppose it's too late to claim late-night typo, and the 'i' isn't even anywhere near the 'e'. I'll just slink off now...
