After many years soloing in the Alps, I am embarking on a trip with a partner for the first time in many a year. (Now I'm Bill-one-mate!)

I think the progress to the latest thinking, together with my senile amnesia, means that I need to re-familiarise myself with various ropework techniques, especially glacier travel, moving together on rock and simul climbing.

My old Nigel Shepherd book used to be the definitive rope technique guide, and I see he updated this in 2007. Would this still be the best guide, or are there other useful manuals or resources out there?

Alpine Mountaineering. By Bruce Goodlad from Pesda Press is a much better book on the subject IMHO.
In reply to OwenM: Ditto. Exactly the one I'd recommend.

The BMC DVD, Alpine Essentials, is quite good for the basics.
