Has anyone had a tent zip repair?
I've got a 15 yr old Solar 2. The zip jammed and one of the sliders has come off. The other works all the way around.
Does anyone know roughly how much to replace the main zips. The inner midge zips are fine.
Thanks.

Have used the above for gortex trouser repair which was 1st class. Have heard that others on the forum have used them for tent repairs.

Cost estimate given on above link for zip repair.

Cheers for that. £50 sounds ok. Reluctant to replace the tent

I'd take it to a local small place. I had a zip replaced on a jacket for £5 and the job was excellent. Specialist places overcharge I think.

How long are the zips?

I'd be surprised if you can buy a long zip for much less than that.

Edit it looks like you can on eBay.

I'd guess it would be more than what I paid for a jacket zip but still I reckon it would be a lot cheaper than lsr or equivalent.

I was more suggesting that it wouldn't be difficult to buy a zip and sew it in. But when i saw your post, price for a jacket zip replaced is a bargain.

If there are no gaps or misaligned teeth, it should be easy to fix, I have managed this before several times.just a little bit of work, but nothing like that if replacing a complete zip .

Certainly worth trying before sending for replacement.

Thanks Jim.
I tried fixing it a while ago, but can't get the slider back on to the zip Maybe I need to distort the slider a bit?
Nothing to lose. It's broken anyway.
