By popular request the Arc'teryx Lakeland Revival routes list has now been uploaded as a UKC Ticklist, click on the following link to subscribe and please remember to add your comments and photographs: http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/set.php?id=1133

For those that don't know the Lakeland Revival is now in it's second year. Based in the beautiful Lake District National Park, the revival will begin in June and run until the end of August, giving you three long summer months to get out on the crags.

The Lake District has a rich heritage, being one of the birthplaces of UK rock climbing. The Lakeland Revival wants to restore the traditional climbs that are being lost to foliage and dirt.

We need your help! Arc'teryx in association with The Climbers Shop in Ambleside and Needle Sports in Keswick have created a list of routes that need your attention to revive them for all climbers to enjoy.

Visit http://www.arcteryxlakelandrevival.com for more information

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Step 1) Choose an unclimbed route from the specified list.
Step 2) Climb it*! Get a photo of the route with you/your partner climbing it.
Step 3) Visit The Climbers Shop, Needle Sports, George Fishers or The Epicentre with the photo as proof and collect your FREE Arc'teryx T-shirt or chalk bag**.
Step 4) Leave your route feedback with the shop staff.
Step 5) Make sure you leave your name and number with the shop staff as two lucky people will win a brand new DMM trad rack.

Is there any way of reporting a route without having to visit one of those shops? For anyone not local that means climbing on the Saturday and giving up part of Sunday just to report it - which is fine in the unlikely event that it's raining, but is a pain otherwise!

The two versions of the list aren't the same. Haven't checked thoroughly but Mithrandir and the other one on Neckband crag are missing on the UKC list.

In reply to Arc'teryx:

We cleaned and climbed Cascade, on Pavey Ark, on 3rd July, as part of the Lakeland Revival, and claimed our Arcteryx freebies from the Epicentre in Ambleside on the 4th; providing the staff there with some photos and written feedback to be added to the routes database.

We are currently still waiting for our feedback to be added to the database; or to receive any response at all *!?

I'd be interested to know of anyone else who has made the effort to clean and climb any of the routes from the list and has then taken the trouble to provide feedback which hasn't made it into the database as yet?

I'm left wondering whether the whole project is just a poorly executed strategy for brand promotion or a genuine attempt to encourage people to explore some of the less well travelled Lakes classics?

FWIW I would recommend Cascade as a brilliant Lakes HVS; but was disappointed with the sloppy administration of the product promotion.
