I'm trying to grade a ridge traverse, but I'm struggling. It's a new route, with about 3-4 pitches of around HVS climbing, and a few pitches of HS, and then some grade 3 scrambling, and a fair amount of easier stuff. It ended with 250m of abseil down a steep slab.
Any ideas?
Which grading system should I even use? The French Adjectival System? In my mind that always implies snow/ice/glacier stuff!

It is fine to use the French adjectival system if you want to give an overall grade of commitment to a long/alpine route (with snow or without: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotation_en_alpinisme ), but if significant amount of rock climbing is involved, still you should provide a technical grade, which shall be the grade required to complete the route (not an average!). With the French adjectival system are usually associate the French or UIAA rock grades, so for instance TD 6b or AD IV+.
However, from your description a simpler HVS may work as well.

Sounds like HVS to me.

I went for HVS in the end:
Nakaigajugtoq Ridge Traverse (HVS 5a)
