Home made 'figfour' type tool?

Anyone ever made one before or got any experience? The legit versions of these tools seem kinda pricey. A few mates of mine have expressed an interest in doing this type of climbing and both of them are pretty handy with tools (innuendo completely unintended), so I'm sure we could construct something! Was thinking about using accessory cord for the 'blade' so to speak and maybe stiffen it with hose or similar?

Any suggestions welcome, ta!

I did a pair. Used scrap plywood that I cut to the wanted size & shape.

For the loop, I sacrificed 2 old 60cm dyneema slings and indeed had a clear hose over it. Another option (my original plan) was a rubber fan belt from the car engine...
