Climbers Against Cancer was founded in January 2013 by John Ellison, who decided to take a stand against the disease that affects so many, including himself. The charity aimed not only to raise much needed funds to help fight cancer, but to also raise awareness of the disease – highlighting the problems that its victims and their friends and families go through.

Capturing the imagination of the international climbing community, CAC became a truly global campaign backed by both regular climbers as well as some of the biggest names in our sport, raising an incredible £350,000 to date for cancer research through the sale of t-shirts, hoodies and other merchandise.
In recognition of his incredible contribution to the climbing community, John was granted an honorary International Federation of Sport Climbing membership, a UIAA award and most recently received the 2015 Arco Rock Legends Ambassador Award…

John watched the audience as it simply would not stop applauding. There was affection, sincere warmth in that applause, affinity.
John sadly passed away peacefully in his sleep on 27th December 2015 after a 4-year battle against his cancer. But his legacy lives on with CAC and this special LLAMFF evening is dedicated to John’s memory and to the continued promotion of CAC, with all proceeds from the evening to be donated to the charity. We hope to see you here.

Lecture & film programme starts from 7.30pm. Bar & café open all evening.
