I'm looking for destination suggestions for 5th-31st May. I've got a big trip coming up in June so I want to get as much trail running, walking and climbing (bigger is better...big multipitch or mountains, 2-3 day runs) in as possible to be fit for that.
What are people's experiences of Chamonix/Dolomites/Val di Mello at that time of year? My suspicions are too much snow for rock climbing/running over high passes but probably ok for snowy/icy routes in Cham.
Other suggestions much appreciated. One idea is to go do the GR 20.
dollies southfacing can be very reasonable - think ciavazzes, falzarego area, civetta / vazzoler ... there has not been a lot of snow this winter so chances are good.
