I was really impressed with a mates arcteryx harness the other day, in particular the weight and small pack size.

Do any other manufacturers make something similar?

I would like to avoid paying the fashion tax that is applied to arcteryx gear.

There's been a few mockoffs based on 'Ryx harnesses in the last few years. Eg. Petzl Sitta... but you'll still pay the same price.

Skylotec Pure 2.0 might be about the closest I've seen, with a reasonable pricetag.

I use a Petzl Hirundos, the tango'd lightweight model. It's much of a muchness isn't it? Personally I use a heavier harness for cragging and indoor but the ultralight for the long walkins and multipitch. Each to their own.

I have two Teryx harnesses - the 220 for sport and the 360 for trad. They are lovely harnesses but definitely not worth the price tag unless you have run out of gear to spend your money on.

I reviewed an Arctryx one a few winters back http://www.ukclimbing.com/gear/review.php?id=5228 so know what they are like. Last year I reviewed the Leaf from Edelrid http://www.ukclimbing.com/gear/review.php?id=7449 and its really good, virtually as light as the Arctryx ones, quite a lot cheaper, and just works well. I've been using it for almost everything for the best part of year now and its going strong. Mainly using it as I'm very lazy and it's super light and takes up very little space in pack. Well worth looking at.

Did you see the Camp one that had a advertised here on UKC the other day? http://www.ukclimbing.com/gear/news.php?id=7533 Looked very light and wasn't too expensive either. In fact I will ask UKC if anyone is reviewing one, because if not I'd like to try.

I have received an arcteryx harness AR 395a as a gift and aside from the small pack size, lightness, fully adjustable etc the main pro is it is very comfortable. I have used other light harnesses in the past and they do not not come close for comfort. I can use it for multi pitch, sport and trad. I am usually quite cynical but am very impressed with this harness, I just hope that it has a decent life span.

This review is pretty useful:
