Hi,

I had a great trip last May to Chamonix and really enjoyed all the accessible walking and climbing without need for a car and the eating and drinking the town offered.

I have found cheap flights to Milan and was wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere in the Italian alps that would be accessible and resonably close offering good Alpine day walks and good eating.

Cheers in advance for any advice..

Public transport is pretty good from Milan, so you have loads of choices. Gressoney is a lovely valley - good for accessing Monte Rosa. I'm not sure what the lower level day-walks are like.

Second this. The walking is excellent too. The other valleys off the Valdaosta also meet the criteria.
