Hi All,

I am heading to Kyrgyzstan this summer 01/08 - 27/08 with my wife. We are going to be doing trekking and mountaineering (nothing technical or very high). I would be interested to know of anyone else travelling to the area with the view to sharing ideas, transport, etc. Currently we're looking at Ala-Archa and the region just south of Karakol. Possibly hiking up to the Khan Tengri base camp and flying back by helicopter.

As you're looking for some ideas in Ala Archa, here's a link to a video I made of a mountaineering trip to Ala Archa last year. It's a superb area to visit.

The first 3 minutes mainly overviews the scenery and wildlife. The next 5 minutes features our ascents on Uchitel Peak 4550m (Russian Grade 1B); Korona Peak 4810m (3A). The final 2 minutes shows our new route on Semenova Tian-Shanski (4,895 m (Russian Grade 4A). Happy memories!
