The via ferrata in avoriaz is apparently closed. Just down from morzine in Saint Jean D'aulps has a red and a black route, both pretty good. It's called elephants head Le Rocher de la Chaux#maps . You have to hike up the road a little from the climbing crag then take a forest path on your left which is signposted with via ferrata.

Hi Alex
Brilliant, thanks for that, although I'm a competent climber I've never done any via ferrata and would like to take my kids (also OK on heights climbing etc) so would the blue on e be OK you reckon.
The crag looks good too!

there's a topo guide available on this site which may be useful, there's also the escalades74 site which has a lot of info on it. There is the via ferrata Le mont at Les Tines near Samoens, http://www.viaferrata-fr.net/via-ferrata-71-La-via-ferrata-du-Mont-Sixt-Fer... . Close by is a very child friendly crag the Rocher Hubert Ducroz at Les Tines. Samoens is very nice and well worth a visit as is Sixt Fer a Cheval, VF gear can be hired at either.
