By pure coincidence, we're going to be staying in a gite near the foot of the Aubisque as the Vuelta comes through on Saturday.
I was wondering about walking up over the hills to a point a bit way up the pass to watch it come through. Does anyone have any idea how busy the big climbs get? Will we be able to just turn up and get some sort of view, or would we need to bag our spot hours or days in advance? I'd like be high enough to see some proper suffering, but not necessarily on the very final slopes...
Also, does anyone have any idea how long the road closures last for the Vuelta?
