I need a new waterproof jacket and sallopettes for use when winter climbing over here aswell as alpine use. Now I know that what it good for the former will not neccesarily be good for the latter but short of me getting a huge payrise or winning the lottery I cannot afford clothing for both types of climbing.

Any advice would be appreciated.

In reply to Anonymous: go somewhere inbetween, durability is more important for someone on a budget, you may find lowe alpine pants good if they fit if not try m.e karakorum, good prices on these but breathability isnt such a problem on legs, as to jkt if you can afford gore xcr or event then get it if not look at lowe alpine or strangely north face hyvent or karrimor, it will do the job, if you budget £150 for pants and £200 for jkt you can get good kit, if not then make sure its not to light, dont get salopettes get pant with braces
