Hi, we've booked flights for 11 nights on Gran Canaria, late January - early Feb, and are wondering if anyone has any accommodation recommendations? Hoping for some reasonably priced (c.£30 per night) self catering basic apartment somewhere - preferably not in the middle of some huge sunbathing Brits complex.

We're hoping to do a lot of hill walking, too.

we're over there now and have had 2 Airbnb apartments over the two weeks. Where are you looking at staying? The apartment we're currently in is very good but in Aldea de San Nicolas in the northwest so not exactly quick to get places from.

Hi - we're sorted now, airbnb in Vecindario, which is near airport & hopefully gives reasonable links into the centre / to some of the good crags. Yeah, we rejected places in the NW for the reason you say..... a bit far from everywhere!
