Beacon Climbing Centre ? summer job

The Beacon is a busy climbing wall offering instruction indoors and outdoors to individuals, groups and families all year round. During the school summer holidays, The Beacon is a popular venue for visitors to the area, and we run many taster sessions for beginners.

We are looking for additional staff to supplement our team over this busy period. Applicants must be over 18 and available for a minimum of 22 hours per week from June to August, including some evening and weekend work.

Duties would include:

• General reception duties, including taking bookings and serving food
• Cleaning and maintenance
• Instruction

Candidates must show some flexibility for work timetables, have good interpersonal skills, be literate and numerate, be able to work as part of a team as well as alone, and must also expect to work on a variety of tasks. All essential training will be given.

This position would suit a student or young person who is an active climber with an aspiration to work in the outdoor sector. An SPA or CWA holder would be preferred, but in-house training in climbing wall instruction would be given to a suitable candidate who does not hold one of these awards.

Rates of pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
