The North Face Kalymnos Climbing Festival will take place next week, from the 27th to 30th September. A weekend in Greece, packed with competition, newly bolted routes, spectacular climbing, story-telling from world-class athletes, lots of sun, fun and prizes. You can pre-register now: a TNF goody bag is up for grabs on a first-come-first-served basis.

Open to climbers of all levels, Kalymnos Climbing Festival comprises three contests - an OPEN Marathon, a BIG Marathon, and the PROject competition.
PROject Comp
In collaboration with the municipality of Kalymnos, the PROject competition will be set on a 'virgin crag'. Eight routes have been specially bolted for the event. The €10,000 prize money will be divided by the number of successful repetitions on each route. Top climbers taking part will include TNF sponsored athletes Yuji Hirayama (JAP), Sam Elias (USA), Felipe Camarga (BRA) and Caroline Ciavaldini (FRA); as well as Gabriele Moroni (ITA); Nicolas Favresse (BEL); Kilian Fischhuber (AUT); Michael Fuselier (FRA); Dani Andrada (ESP); Anna Stöhr (AUT); Melissa Le Neve (FRA); Barbara Zangerl (AUT); and, Daila Ojeda (ESP).
OPEN Marathon and BIG Marathon
The OPEN Marathon will take place on existing routes ranging from 3c to 7a, with scoring based on team performance. You enter in a team of two, and there will be male, female and mixed categories. The BIG Marathon, also for teams of two, with male, female and mixed categories and scored overall, will comprise of 155 routes from 7a+ to 8a. Prizes will be TNF gear, with a total value of €5,000.
Evening Entertainment
While the sun sets over a long day of climbing on Friday 28th September 2012, TNF sponsored climbers James Pearson (UK) and French partner Caroline Ciavaldini will be joined by special guest, Belgian Nicolas Favresse, to tell stories of adventure and exploration in the world's most remote climbing locations. Final competition celebrations commence at 20.30 on Saturday 29th September 2012, with a traditional Greek dinner, drinks and music, followed by the official prize giving for all competitions and a pool party with live DJ set at The North Face Base Camp.
