Building on the Big Shakeout success of previous years we've teamed up once more with Thornbridge Outdoors and return yet again to bring you another weekend packed full of adventure and entertainment. From the 27th to the 29th September, this years festival promises to be bigger and better, and tickets are now on sale.
The 2013 Big Shakeout looks set to be buzzing with activities for those young and old, experienced or novice - and promises to be exciting and inspiring for everyone involved in the heart of the Peak District.
The Big Shakeout is designed to bring together many people with a love for the outdoors. Whether you’ve been doing it for years or are just looking to start out, the festival has something for everyone. A Big Shakeout pass gives you 2 nights of camping in the beautiful Thornbridge grounds, a host of free on-site activities, a saturday night meal and plenty of evening entertainment. This year we also have the pleasurable company of local (to us anyway!) Blue Monkey brewery who will be hosting a Micro Beer Festival for us. Come along and make use of it's proximity to the range of outdoor oppurtunities in the Peak District during the day before kicking back in the evenings.
However, if you are after a little more guidance then throughout the weekend there will be a diverse range of courses available through the School of Adventure, from biking and canoeing, right through to caving, bushcraft, guided walks and navigation skills. Run by Thornbridge instructors, elite athletes and top coaches, these offer short, affordable oppurtunities to try something new or brush up on your existing skills. Climbing specific this year include coaching sessions with Gaz Parry, Bombproof belays, introductions to leading and bouldering, as well as the popular rope management Climbing Escapology.
Then as the sun goes down and the firelight begins to twinkle in the darkness, the festival area will be transformed into a relaxing and sociable environment. The atmosphere will be magical and calming - perfect for listening to live music, watching adventure films, telling tall tales of your days adventures, and making new friends.
