At Kendal Wall we have an exciting series of events lined up for the coming indoor season and after an excellent extended outdoor season, for some this will certainly be a change!
The first of the season’s events will be held on 18 October, this will be the start of the Marmot Masters Friday Night Series bouldering competition, a series of competitions held on Friday nights on 18 October, 13 December and 7 February with a Grand Final and party day held on Saturday 22 March 2014. This will be no ordinary competition! We will be holding a number of events to test your metal against the wall.
There will be two levels to the comp, Premier level with problems up to V5 and the Elite level with problems up to V8 (with a couple of stoppers no doubt!). There will also be a junior competition for 14 – 16 year olds, a men’s and women’s comp and of course a Vets comp, over 50.
All this kicks off at 5pm and you will have until 9pm on the evening to finish all the problems. There will be the standard 20 problem circuit of increasing difficulty, a stamina problem on the circuit board, a stamina problem on our routing roof and if that’s not enough a speed route on the routing roof – all of these will count towards your points and as we know points make prizes.
These competitions will be ideal for the hardened boulderer or those wanting a fun evening out – or both! We will be having our world class in-house setters and guest setting from Marmot and La Sportiva athletes as well as a guest DJ on the Marmot Loft Prow.
As a further encouragement to this fantastic series of competitions the wall entry fee will be reduced to £7.50 (normally £9.00) on the night. Even better, as an added incentive to all the students nearby, if you register before the end of October you can get a regular user discount card for £15 (a saving of £10), this will entitle students to an entry of £6.00 peak or £5.00 off-peak (before 15.30). Why not make Kendal your local wall. If this is going to be your first time to Kendal Wall, why not pre register, fill out the correct form here and bring it along with you.
Please note: This does not affect your normal entry rate, if you are already a regular user card holder, punch card holder or full member you will be charged your entry rate with no additional cost for the competition.
The results from the Marmot Masters Friday Night Series will be added to our Grand Day in Party on 22 March 2014 which will be an all-day event ending in a lecture from the one and only Neil Gresham.
