The Bury Mountaineering Club of Bury was founded in 1979 Since then it has been a forum to bring together those who enjoy climbing, walking and cycling, and to organise activities both locally and in the more mountainous regions of the country. The club is small and informal, and aims to be sociable and fun as well as active. We meet alternative Wednesday evenings from 8.45pm in the Waterloo Pub, Manchester Road, Bury, which is on the A56 (1/2 mile south of Bury town centre). We try to pack in plenty of activities during the year. The main activities are mountain walking and rock climbing but we also indulge in many other outdoor activities. In addition to the formal programme there are many ad-hoc events and outings, usually arranged amongst members on the Wednesday night. So do keep in touch. A lot of activities are broadcast via email. We also stay for weekends in huts, YHA, camping and independent hostels
